You may have caught recent news that a separate organization, Boy
Scouts of America (sometimes known as BSA or Scouts BSA), is changing
their name to “Scouting America.”
Your friends or extended family might have confusion about the
news, so it’s good to remember that Girl Scouts of the USA remains a
separate and independent organization unconnected to Boy Scouts of
America/Scouting America. Girl Scouts are not involved with this news.
There was no merger, and the two bodies are still completely distinct
from one another. Girl Scouts of the USA does not have plans to change
our beloved name. The Boys Scouts’ name change is their own business decision.
Here at Girl Scouts, we are a distinct, separate organization
from any other. We are proud to be the world’s largest girl leadership
organization, and we are honored to be the experts on what we do. We
are a girl-serving Movement that develops programs to meet the needs
of today’s girls.
What’s in a name? Just as we’ve done for 112 years, Girl
Scouting continues to bring unique and wonderful experiences to our
members, their families, and our communities. Girl Scouts of all
backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves without
the pressure to be perfect.
Our mission is as relevant and rewarding as ever: Girl Scouts of
Kentuckiana builds girls of courage, confidence, and character who
make the world a better place. You are a part of that! tel:+15026360900
